Event Overview

We often think of gardens as needing fertilizer, compost, and water, but what about mulch?! Join us for a discussion and demonstration on how to use one of the most overlooked, but very necessary ingredients for a great garden. Mulch not only helps with weed suppression, but also helps stabilize soil temperatures, conserves moisture, and protects soil against erosion. In this class, we will show you how to choose and use different kinds of mulch for covering your soil throughout the seasons - including cocoa shell, straw, fallen tree leaves, cardboard, newspaper, and jute; as well as living mulch cover crops.
