The holidays are fast approaching and to help you get into the festive mood, we'll help you brush up on entertaining skills! In this class, students will learn how to make a variety of easy & delicious appetizers to serve for those upcoming holiday parties. Along with those tasty bites, students will learn the magical art of martinis - the science of proper ratios, key shaking & stirring techniques, pouring & straining tips as well as the finishing touch of garnishes. With this class, you'll be ready to host those holiday gatherings or attend a few & share some tips!
Joelen Tan is a Chicago area private caterer and former restaurant chef behind the 'What's Cookin, Chicago?' website. Joelen has been recognized in both local and national media and has worked with celebrity chefs including Rick Bayless, Spike Mendelsohn, and Marcela Valladolid. Since 2007, she has been teaching culinary classes, hosting culinary events in Chicagoland and does recipe development work with major food brands including Sara Lee, Pepperidge Farms, Campbell's, Kraft, Frito Lay and Starbucks to name a few. Upon learning she has a gluten intolerance/sensitivity, she has transitioned into gluten free living with ease. Now as a gluten free chef, she can make her cakes and eat it too!
