Event Overview

In this workshop, start out by making a poured soap. Learn this hands-on, step-by-step method to create a unique colorful and scent-filled body soap. Think about lavender soap with sprigs of lavender… or maybe an oatmeal soap with little flecks of oatmeal for texture. The possibilities are limitless. They make the perfect gift and fun to make! While your pour soaps are curing, there is a detailed demonstration showing how to do create soap using the cold-process method (these soaps are made from lye, natural oils, natural color, and fragrances). This class is filled with tons of useful knowledge about how to make soap at home, proper tools and techniques, and the many different making and baking methods. You'll take away your finished pour soap you made in the class, along with another full-sized bar of soap made by the cold process method. Roll up your sleeves and get clean! It’s time to make soap!

Joseph is a lover of all things wine, cooking, and learning. A Chef and Graduate of Kendall College, he brings his culinary talents to each class, dishing up eclectic and inventive marvels to past the time. Each class with Joe flies by filled with his ongoing chatter, storytelling, and laughter. His friendly and sociable personality welcomes each student when they walk in the door.

Tommy is one of the top teachers on Dabble, having taught countless creative courses. A Graduate and Instructor from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he brings his artistry to every class. Art, inspiration, and attention to detail are all things that describe Tommy. When it comes to any art form - making candles, arranging flowers, designing or gardening... you name it; you'll find a warm smile share a calming environment with Tommy.

I had a great time here with my friends. The teacher was knowledgable, entertaining, and fun. We got to make some soap ourselves as well as watch another type of soap making technique, and the soaps we made we were able to take home. I would recommend this experience and hope to do other experiences here in the future.

Loved the class! It was fun and exciting to learn how to make soap. Now I know what everyone is getting for Christmas: HAND MADE SOAP!!! 😁 The place is easy to find, the room is cozy and nicely decorated. I am definitely going back for more classes!

We had SO much fun at this soap making class! I had no idea what to expect walking in as this was my first class and ended up having the best time. Joe was super friendly, informative and entertaining, and so was his team who was also in helping out. The venue he has cultivated is so cozy and cool, it was such a great place to learn and drink wine on a snowy Chicago night. The soap we made looks and smells amazing, I can't wait to test it out. I've already suggested the class/venue to a ton of friends, and am already planning my next class over there.

My middle school daughter and I went to this class and the teacher was great-- he gave us all of the directions to make soap and we took the bars home that we made. He kept us engaged, it was a nice group of people to take the class with, I highly recommend it!

we had a great time for a friend's birthday outing. the teachers were fantastic, educational, and the soap was beautiful! we will be back for sure to take another one of their classes. our friend was so happy that we found mL through dabble and she is excited to take more classes there, like the hydroponics one. highly recommend! thanks mL!
