Freezer Basics: Preserving Herbs, Vegetables & Fruits
Food & Drink
Have an abundance of produce springing forth from your garden? Sick of throwing away half of your basil or parsley after purchasing from the store? Freeze it.
Freezers are an often overlooked tool for preserving. In this class we will go over the basics for preserving herbs, vegetables and fruits from your garden or CSA box so you can enjoy local produce from your freezer all winter long.
We will also discuss and demonstrate methods for freezing baked goods, homemade stock, soup, meat, tomato sauce, pesto and jam to avoid freezer burn as well as thawing for best texture. Finally, we will prepare empanadas for freezing and sample the delicious results.
