Event Overview

As requested by students in the Excel Beginner/Intermediate workshop, here's a conversation about Excel formulas. Whether you write the formulas or need to understand someone else's formulas, they are the juice of what makes Excel useful.

Without a grasp of formulas, there's no way to get Excel to cooperate

Adding totals in a budget, peeling first names away from last names, checking for duplicates and errors, preventing the entry of errant data. All of these require creation of formulas.

Let's spend 2 hours together and discuss a few key formulas, including:

IF
VLOOKUP
SUMIFS
AND, OR

Let’s think through how to use them to build more complex formulas. It’s the thought process that’s critical because there are so many ways to achieve a result. The key is in thinking through what you need. From there, it’s possible to make several small formulas or one massive jungle of parentheses.

We’ll also discuss best practices.

Helper columns
Troubleshooting
Nesting
Handling errors

Join the course and let’s sweeten your relationship with spreadsheet formulas.

  1. Data that needs cleaning, organizing and reformatting.

  2. They need special app to help automate and simplify the way they manage their data.

Oz works with his clients on a large range of projects everything from merging contact lists and removing duplicates, to developing web scrapers and inventory control systems. Oz is looking forward to helping our Dabblers get organized-- both personally and professionally--and you can check out more of what he does here > www.datascopic.net.

I've taken one other class with Oz and both times, I've learned so much. I can also immediately apply what I've learned, so it definitely worth the money!

    From Teacher:

Isabel, thank you so much for your participation. Your feedback has made a difference. You're a teacher for me as much as I'm one for you.
