Event Overview

Do you keep a radio on in every room of the house? Are your ear buds permanently within arms' reach, ready to feed you beloved podcasts? Do you manufacture road trips just so you can listen to stories in the car en route to wherever and back? Or are you simply a dedicated and careful listener who appreciates hearing, thinking and talking about audio stories?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you're in luck: Here's a chance to listen closely and think more deeply about the stories you love, and why you love them.

Join us for an afternoon of listening to a wide range of memorable audio works from the US and beyond, and come ready to share your thoughts and observations about what you hear. We'll talk about the components that make great radio sound great, how sound contributes to stories, and why audio storytelling is such a powerful and intimate media format.

You'll leave with a new perspective on listening - to radio, and anything else - and armed with a long list of resources and reasons to help you try your own hand at producing stories.

I loved this class. One of those Dabble classes that makes you leave smiling and thinking, "I need to sign up for another one tomorrow." A group of strangers getting together to listen to audio stories - then dissecting them together. Julie made a totally welcoming environment. Would definitely recommend.

I loved this class! It was great to hear new stories, but more importantly to hear others' perspectives on those stories and how they differed from mine.
