ABOUT THIS EVENT
Arts & DIY
Join ArtReach glass artists in the hotshop at Firehouse Art Studios as they give an introduction to blowing glass - and help you make a beautiful Mother’s Day gift at the same time! With spring flowers as our inspiration and final product, students will learn, among other lessons and insights: how to safely collect molten glass from a 2000 degree furnace; how to use tools like the marver, block and tweezers to shape your piece; and the art of adding color to make your flower vibrant!
The $75 ticket price of the workshop covers admission for two people - each person can make one flower. So make it a creative date to celebrate your mom… or come with a friend, sibling or parent to make something beautiful for her! Half-hour time slots between 7:30pm and 10:00pm will be assigned to students the week of the workshop. Flowers won't be ready to be taken home that evening; students will need to pick up their pieces 3 days later. All materials and safety equipment will be provided. Due to the nature of the tools and materials used, this class is appropriate for students ages 10 and older. The first floor, on which ArtReach’s classes take place, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
*Please note: The photo is an example of the type of flower we will create in the workshop. Participants are not guaranteed to walk away with an exact replica of this flower.
