Event Overview

How do you like them apples? A lot, judging from how many we bring home during the annual apple-picking orchard trip. Don't let them go to waste! With a little skill and effort, the deliciousness of autumn apples can last for months. Using some traditional and not-so-traditional preservation techniques, we'll make:

Caramel Apple Jam
Apple Chai Jelly
Hard Cider
Applesauce
Apple Pie Filling (fresh, frozen, and canned)

All you need are basic cooking skills and food safety knowledge to get your local apple a day year-round.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

I've been teaching people to preserve foods for years. Food waste makes me almost as cranky as eating the same boring things over and over. I'm always looking for new ways to expand the bounty for my farming and gardening friends. Grow it, preserve it, and eat locally year-round!
