Event Overview

Hosta Leaf Wall Sconce Workshop tonight!  Class is from 7-10pm. Your instructor is Sarah Rye Bliss.  Tonight you will make a wall hanging candle sconce using the hosta leaf as inspiration for design.  You be will also focus on surface design with tools, carving, cut-outs and built up surfaces.  All of the creations tonight will be dipped in a glaze voted on by the class.  Students who want to choose a different color or glaze combination can pay an extra $12 glaze fee and drop in at Pottery Open Workshop any Thursday, or Friday 12-7pm or Saturday 10-4pm.

Due to the mold-able nature of clay, you really can make anything with it, and it is often tempting for students at Clay Date Night to stray from the class theme and try to make a different project which can often have less than desired results. In order to keep our methods authentic and successful for  all students, we will only be making items related to the class theme.  However if you are inspired by something you see, please let your instructor know so she can tell you more about it!  If you leave class tonight wanting to learn more about pottery and ceramics consider buying an Open Studio Pass where you can work with the guidance of an instructor while making your own project choices and taking your learning to the next level!

CLASS TIME 7-10 PM

Seating for class begins at 7 pm.  Please try arrive to class on time as the instructor begins promptly at 7:15 pm.  We do not take walk-ins for ClayDate Night, as you have reserved your space online in advance.

GLAZE & FIRING

SBAP has 20+ glaze colors and lots of options for slips and engobes.  Each class will have different options for finishing.  Some classes you will apply the glaze or surface treatment, while other classes will not have time for painted colors and thus will be dipped in glaze by the instructor at a later time.  Projects are usually ready for pick-up in about 3 weeks, and will send you an email as well.
