Joe Simon

I have been involved with these studies since the early 70's, when I was introduced to astrology by Isabel Hickey, a famous astrologer from Boston. Afterwards, I was able to study with Rob Hand, learning Cosmobiology, a German system developed by Reinhold Ebertin which emphasizes midpoint (average distance between two planets) and the 90 degree chart (i.e. dividing the 360 by four). I Also studied psychological astrology with Zipporah Dobyns at this time.
After a long interlude to raise a family, I was introduced to the classical revival and started studying the work of Robert Zoller in the late 90's. My focus is now on Medieval Astrology, which emphasizes events and predictions in lieue of the more psychology tendencies read by modern practitioners.
I have become adept in the Medieval system and am able to teach the techniques as well as do interpretations in this system. Using traditional techniques requires disregarding the outer planets, as they have no place in the tradition, not being known to the ancients. (That being said, I must point out that Medieval Arabic astronomer/astrologers were aware of Uranus at the time of the Maraga Observatory, mid 13th CE).
The study of the heavens, as pointed out by the Latin astrologer Julius Fermicus Maternus, leads one to the contemplation of the divine. In concordance with the tradition, I have a focus on Medieval Arabic Astrology, which is the wellspring of rennaisance and modern astrology.
The old ways are the good ways." - Joe

What was great about this workshop was that it was not a vague wishy washy chart reading, instead it was this well rounded understanding of astrology as a historical, and professional craft. You gain an understanding the difference between Traditional vs Modern Astrology thinking. The overall goal then is an individual could come to understand, through study, how the celestial bodies, under their ascending sign, could impart information for their earthly decision making.
