CRU Coaches Kate & Abigail

CRU employs several coaches so here is a sampling of two of our coaches:

Kate started her rowing career as a freshman in high school with Riverfront Recapture Inc. in Connecticut. During her time with Riverfront, she coxed a boy's youth 4+ to a top ten finish at the Head of the Charles and gold at the Head of the Schuylkill, as well as a women's 4+ to a master's national championship in the Open 4+. She also served as captain of the high school team. She continued her coxing career at the University of Wisconsin. During her four years there, she coxed a lightweight 8+ to a second place finish at the Charles and coxed the Openweight 2V8+ at NCAAs. She served as a captain, received Student-Athlete of the month, and was on the board of two Student-Athlete organizations (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Student-Athletes Equally Supporting Others). In addition, she won a lightweight national championship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology. Kate began her coaching career at Loyola Academy, as the head Novice Girls coach and assistant Varsity Girls coach. She joined the CRU coaching team in 2015.

Abigail joined the University of Alabama Women's Rowing Team as a true novice her freshman year of college. From the moment she got in the boat, she knew she had found my sport. During her time at Alabama, she rowed as a starboard five seat. Her favorite races that she ever participated in are Head of the Hooch and Knecht Cup. Abigail returned to Illinois in 2014. She has coached both the development and competitive teams at Alliance Rowing Club, and now is a coach for CRU.
