Beatrice Scescke and Friends

I have been teaching yoga and working with animals for the past 17 years, and am continually exploring their overlap. I have spent the past decade studying agriculture, apprenticing with animal trainers, and working as a consultant for local nonprofits. I have always dreamed of rewilding myself and my environs by bringing more plants and animals to the city. For the past 8 years, I have been bioremediating the lots next to my home, resulting in an urban-farm-dreamscape. The animals here are a delight to local children and have become neighborhood mascots. As my day job, I work as a massage therapist in a greenhouse right here on the nature sanctuary. For private appointments, please visit www.wildmedicinechicago.com or read more about our non-profit and community outreach at www.chicagorewildingsociety.org

I really loved the class and the opportunity to make connections with fellow humans, along with the opportunity to connect with goats! This class is light on the yoga, but you still get a chance to try things you may not have tried before! The goats are obviously well cared for and there was a great atmosphere in the class! My only complaint was that the music from the climbing class going on was so loud, it was sometimes hard to hear the instructor!

This is a fun event! Go if you like yoga, if you appreciate being outdoors to exercise, if you love cute adorable animals and need to satisfy your urge to pick them up and help them eat leaves off of trees. To be honest, I would have gone strictly to pick up adorable goats and hold them for an hour. It was a bonus getting a yoga class out of the experience with such lovely hosts. These are truly special people running this event and I feel lucky to have spent some time with them and to have seen their urban farm. It helps to bring a friend or someone you like well enough to do partner yoga with; but it's not a deal breaker if you go solo.

Went with my wife and a couple friends and had a great time! Beatrice and Jess were so wonderful and really made us feel at ease. We learned about the goats and got to spend a lot of time interacting with them. Would recommend going with someone you know if you aren't super comfortable doing yoga with strangers, as some of the poses required partner assistance. Afterward, Beatrice let us take the goats back to her house and told us more about her urban farm and the community they live in. Can't thank them enough for this special experience!

It was the first brutally cold day in a long while, but the instructors took our minds off it with hot tea, lots of laughter, and movements to keep us warm -- along with cuddling with the goats. Hard not to smile throughout the experience. Afterward, we walked the goats to their private home and learned more about their day-to-day along with the garden maintained by the family. It was a great time and I'd do it again!

We had been wanting to do this class for some time and it was worth the wait! We had so much fun. The yoga is great but of course the star of the show is the baby goats! Because the class goes for 1.5hrs you get plenty of goat time before and after with the goats and they show you how to hold them etc but you still get a good yoga class in as well. The teachers we very knowledgeable about the goats and the yoga and they were very accommodating for yoga so would be fine if you were a beginner yogi! The goats are happy to be involved (I had one on my mat for half the class) but the teachers were also good at letting them have their space if they needed it. Highly highly recommended, one of my favorite Dabble classes to date!

This was an awesome experience! They incorporated some time with the goats in the class and the yoga session was easy to follow and go at your own pace. The instructors were really understanding that the group wanted photos with the goats and made time for that. I’d highly recommend this for a friend. Great self care activity!

Goat yoga was better than I expected. I quite enjoyed being outside, holding the goats, and doing some basic yoga moves. The teachers were super energetic and enthusiastic. I liked that they explained to us about the goats and how it was therapeutic. Only minor feedback suggestions would be to be more clear about where the location is because its a open yard on a street front and wish there were more goats or cap the amount of people at the session to be able to interact more with them.

We had a lot of fun hanging with the goats! Lite on yoga, but you go for the goats so that was totally cool.

This dabble experience was everything I hoped it would be. I was able to relax and try some yoga and hang out with the adorable baby goats. This was a wonderful way to spend a morning and get in tune with nature. The teachers, Molly and Beatrice were incredibly knowledgeable, and welcoming. There was so much positivity and laughter, it was very special. I highly recommend to people of all ages, regardless of your yoga background. Seeing the converted yard where the goats now live was so cool.

These goats are so cute, it took all my willpower to not put one in my bag. I wish there was just a little bit more allotted time to take pictures since everyone wanted to pose with this particularly cute baby goat and there wasn’t enough time for everyone (aka me). Spending time with the goats was very therapeutic and so fun.

This was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. The goats were so cute and we had plenty of time to hold them and take pictures. It was a really relaxed and playful atmosphere. I liked that the yoga wasn't too intense as I had just come from a really long run. It was more focused on stretching and relaxing which I liked a lot. It's outdoors. One thing to note is there was some broken glass around the tree and under my mat. I wish they'd removed that before class, but we just put gym shoes on when we needed to be off the mat. Otherwise everything was perfect. I'd definitely go again. The teachers were very friendly, upbeat and helpful with the goats and helping people try out some poses with them. I really enjoyed their positive energy.

This class was a great time! The instructors gave the group some background on how animals and humans interact together before they were introduced to us. There was also time when there was information given about the mythology of goats. They helped each person feel comfortable around the animals and fostered a fun and educational experience!

The goats were adorable and sweet, I couldn't get enough! They integrate the goats and stories perfectly to make you appreciate these beautiful little creatures in a new light. I could not speak highly enough of my experience for myself and my daughter that joined me.

Overall this was an okay experience. The place was relatively easy to find. It is a vacant lot across from the Garfield Park Conservatory. Molly and Beatrice were very nice and the yoga was fun. I enjoyed holding the goats and spending time with them but there were way too many people for a handful of goats. There were 5 goats and over 20 people, so you didn't get much time with them. For that reason I wouldn’t recommend it.
At the end we were invited to have some tea and then get a tour at her small urban farm. There were two very adorable dogs, chickens and a pony.

I enjoyed my experience because the yoga class was good and it was nice to practice outdoors in the urban farm setting, but I was disappointed that the goats didn’t interact with us, other than when we got to pick them up and pass them around. They grazed, and we did yoga. It seemed like they were much larger than what was shown in photos promoting the class and perhaps not as curious. There were only four of them, too.
