Event Overview

Welcome to the fabulous world of woodworking and furniture building. In this course, you will be carefully trained and supervised by a professional woodworker who will oversee you at every level with a strong emphasis on correctly identifying how to use hand and power tools properly and safely.

Some of the tools you will use are:

* Power tools – router, table saw, drills, sanders, radial arm saw, etc.
* Hand tools – measuring devices, hand- held tools etc.

Some of the topics we will cover are:

• Identifying different types of building materials and how to select the right ones
• How to properly and safely use power tools.
• How to identify different building techniques (such as different joints).
• How to build jigs and fixtures.

Each participant in this class will make three furniture projects to take home and keep. The course runs for 10 weeks and each class is 3 hours long. The only thing you are required to bring are your own safety glasses. All of your materials are included in your class fee.

The goal of this class is to, at the least, expand your knowledge of woodworking and woodworking tools, at the most, start you off on the road to furniture making either as a hobby or for a new career. Hope to see you in class!
