Event Overview

Squarespace offers a fully-hosted environment for creating and maintaining websites. Squarespace's do-it-yourself tools allow creative professionals, businesses, bloggers, and web developers to quickly and easily create and maintain professional, high-quality websites.

I'll help each student establish a trial site in Squarespace 6. We'll go through the step-by-step process of getting a website up and running. Beginners welcome!

We'll start out with a quick brain-storm about the different sites the students need (the purpose of the site, who they'd like to visit their site, what information they need to convey, etc). Next, we'll walk through the predesigned themes Squarespace offers. Finally, we'll look at how to incorporate the student's own content and how to customize different types of pages.

Students will leave the class with a first draft of their own personal website and a foundational knowledge of how to work the Squarespace backend.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Jen Bachelder first started using Squarespace in 2009. She had zero experience with anything web related, so she decided to take an entry level Squarespace class. After a short hour, Jen had her first site published. Since that class, Jen's gained experience with writing code and managing sites in WordPress, but her heart still lies with Squarespace. She's been maintaining her personal site there for almost 4 years. It's the perfect place for beginners to get started, and she's excited to help you get up and running.
