Event Overview

Learn how to make cold process soaps and take home your creations! You will learn the science of saponification, better know as cold process soap making. Each student will receive hands-on experience, an information-packed class handout with instructions, recipes and valuable supplier list.

We'll discuss how to formulate your own recipes, properly use and store lye, mixing lye and water, oils for soap making, and fragrance oils vs. essential oils. All materials needed for class will be on hand.

You will take home 2 pounds of soap that will net you 6 bars of your design to use or give as gifts. Cold process soap takes about 6 weeks to cure, so plan ahead if giving as gifts.

What to Bring

Students should dress for mess. Bring an old towel to insulate your soap.

Minimum age

All ages welcome

What's Provided

Aprons will be provided as well as all materials needed.

My friend and I had so much fun learning how to make cold-processed soap!! Patty was an amazing teacher and taught us so much!! She also gave us a detailed packet of valuable information on everything soap related!! I loved the class and would definitely take any additional classes offered by her!!

A friend and I went to the soap making class on a whim and we really enjoyed it! Now I have six bars of amazing soap that I made myself. It looks good, it smells good and I feel like I'm some kind of craft hero. The workshop was informative and I do feel like I could make soap at home now with the helpful handouts. It's a fun time!

The class was certainly fun and informative. My soap smells nice and is making my apartment smell terrific actually. It's still curing and will be a couple more weeks before I can use it, but I'm feeling very positive about it's potential to be great soap.

What a great way to spend a fun afternoon with your girls! The instructor welcomes us into her home and was very knowledgeable about the soap making process. In addition to providing detailed instructions, she gave us multiple options regarding scents/colors when making our soap. Our final product turned out great!

This was my first class and I loved it. The teacher was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I have been wanting to learn to make soap for a long time and the teacher made the process simple and manageable. I can't wait to start making at home.

I was nervous about making the jump from melt & pour soap to cold process. It was great to have someone walk me through the steps the first time. And answer all the questions I had. I feel confident enough to try it on my own now. Thanks for offering this class.

I really enjoyed this class. I got just enough guidance throughout the process to answer any questions I had, and a ton of resources so I can learn myself going forward. Patty was super knowledgeable and very credible - even when she said she didn't have direct experience with something (like the way a particular fragrance would interact with the soap), she told us what to look for, so I felt comfortable continuing. All-in-all, she definitely took the fear out of soapmaking, and I think it's something I can do on my own now. Thanks!

Great class and delicious snacks! I learned a lot and had a great time. The teacher was really patient and had an incredible array of choices for us to customize our own soap. Plus we ended up with a decent size box of our own soap. I think I could make my own soap on my own now but I would also take the class again for fun.

Patty was awesome!! Very patient, answered any and all questions and was very thorough!! Class size was manageable and she worked individually with everyone in a hands on class.

I would highly recomend her class to anyone interested in learning how to make cold process soap!!

The class was very informative and fun. She was very gracious and even had beverages and tasty muffins. I really enjoyed it and Patti's expert tips were quite helpful. I am looking forward to trying this on my own. Great class!

I had a lot of fun in this class! She keeps the class size small so you get more individual attention and also emphasizes how to do everything safely (gloves/goggles/masks etc). She has a lot of knowledge about all the different oils and which ones mix well (how they react with skin, how they foam up etc). We were given handouts to take with us with recipes/instructions so we can make our own in the future. I'm really excited to see the end result of my soap. The 6 week wait is going to feel like forever!

A TON of fun and very informative! I'm letting the soap I made cure now, but I'm already lecturing my friends on the values of homemade soap, because I think I know EVERYTHING! I loved this class! I strongly recommend it!
