Event Overview

Do you love to learn how to make traditional American holiday foods? Do you enjoy tart, sweet, spiced cranberry sauce? Then this class is just for you.

Cranberries are one of North America’s 3 native fruits, and have been used for food, a natural dye and a medicinal herb, since before human records. They are quite high in vitamin C and were carried on long sea voyages to help prevent scurvy. The fall brings abundant harvests of these round, red, buoyant fruits which are perfect to pair with other autumn and winter vegetables.
Homemade cranberry sauce brings both a traditional taste a special twist to your thanksgiving table.

Starting with fresh, locally grown Michigan Cranberries, we’ll concoct a spiced sauce that is all our own. Edible Alchemy will supply spices, fruits, cranberries, triple sec, oranges, and a basic recipe outline for you to create the perfect sauce to top anything from Turkey to Toast. Together, we’ll make the spectacular sauce in the Eco Collective’s community kitchen, deciding just what we want to spice it all with. We'll water bath can our jars, enabling them to safely stay at room temperature for storing until the holidays. Each Dabbler will leave with 2 half pint jars of their very own creation to bring to their holiday table, plus the recipe to replicate again and again each.

This was a great class! I had never canned before and I left with amazing cranberry sauce made from scratch. Andrea was so knowledgeable both about canning and about putting flavors together. Highly recommended!!
