Event Overview

At Urban Threads Studio we invite you to join our community of makers. Our fashion and textile experiential learning space is located in the Textile & Fashion Design Center at Bridgeport Art in Chicago. Our children's workshops put you in the designer seat to create functional textile accessories, garments, and gifts. Knowing how to design and sew offers your child a creative way to express him/herself. The class begins with hand-sewing basics and moves on to machine sewing skills and textile design.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

We are a not-for-profit organization called Urban Threads Studio which offers instructions in textile art, pattern making, product design, and garment construction because we want our students to benefit from all that visual arts has to offer: creativity, confidence, problem solving, perseverance, focus, non-verbal communication, receiving constructive feedback, collaboration, dedication, and accountability. It is our mission to teach these valuable and applicable life skills through the instruction of textile arts in a nurturing and community-building environment.
