Event Overview

Just because it's cold and snowy outside doesn't mean your bike has to spend the winter indoors. With just a few smart choices, a little extra knowledge, and a minimal budget, you can have the confidence to keep riding to work all year round!

If you enjoy riding to work, but have reservations about continuing to bike commute through Chicago's famously rough winters, you will find this class empowering and informative. I've been bike commuting year-round in Chicago for ten years - even to the suburbs - and I've acquired the common-sense knowledge that has made winter riding a common-sense choice.

In this class you'll learn about:
1. Staying warm and dry without spending a ton of money on new outerwear
2. Simple, inexpensive steps to winterizing your bike, or selecting a new one for year round commuting, and keeping it running smoothly throughout the winter
3. Tips for staying safe on the road in all conditions

Get a free Chicago Bike Map and 25% off any items purchased after class, courtesy of Johnny Sprockets Bike Shop! BYOB (beverage and/or bike)

The teacher and his colleagues were very helpful and answered everyone's questions and even demonstrated how to change a tire and offered the students hands on experiance so our first time wouldn't be during a winter emergency. Plus, the in store discount after the class was great too.

I enjoyed this class. The instructor was very thorough about all aspects of biking: winter gear, winter bike upkeep and I found the tutorial on changing a bike tire incredibly useful. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is even curious about biking in the winter.
