Event Overview

This course focuses on oral communication/public speaking and examines how perception, self-concept, verbal and nonverbal communication affect the communication process as it emerges in the workplace and interpersonally. This course will provide students with skill training in public speaking, in a fun and interactive way. If you want to gain more confidence in front of others, develop your own unique "voice," and learn to be more engaging and persuasive - this is the class for you!

Dr. Eric Dunning is Communication and Information Science scholar and has been working many years in academia, developing programs for Leadership, Organizational Communication and Rhetoric.

In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Dunning works as a consultant for companies, non-profits and government agencies, including Under Armor, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, NIH, Boeing and many other.

Before moving into academia, Dr. Dunning spent many years in the private sector working in management and finance for companies such as New Line Cinema, Memphis Youth Villages, and SMV PostProdution.

Recently, he has also founded the non-profit organization, "Speech Doctors" which provides seminars and training in public speaking for low-income communities.
