MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Dr. Carletta D. Washington became a single parent as a college sophomore. She had been working part time to pay her tuition because her GPA and ACT score were not high enough for the most coveted scholarships; she had missed the early decision deadline for financial assistance from her chosen university; and her parents' combined income exceeded the household earnings limit for grants and needs-based scholarships. Thankfully, some very good friends introduced her to the student retention staff at our university!

Not only did she graduate and become a teacher, she later married and obtained advanced certification as a Superintendent, Principal, and Teacher. She also continued her education, earning a doctorate in Educational Leadership, and has been blessed to serve in wonderful positions such as: Principal, Student Teacher Supervisor, Data & Assessment Specialist, and Curriculum & Instructional Coordinator. Most importantly, her daughter and many of the students she has worked with over the years are doing well as adults!

As a result of over 20 years of parenting and education experience--Dr. Washington has found that parental involvement is a key factor--in building stronger family relationships, preparing children for academic success, and raising our children to become successful adults. She enjoys sharing what she has discovered with parents of all ages and backgrounds in order to assist them in raising their children to become successful adults.

In 2002, Dr. Washington founded Education 4 All, Inc. a non-profit education organization rooted in her desire to help bridge gaps in home-school partnerships. In addition to conducting parent engagement workshops for school, organizations, and businesses, Education 4 All produces a weekly parent radio program, publishes a quarterly parent magazine, and hosts parent/family meet-ups!

Dr. Carletta D. Washington is always eager to assist others with their parental engagement efforts!
