Event Overview

Students of all experience levels are welcome to register. All you need is a creative spark and a favorite image that you want to make a relief print from.

Relief printing is a process by which a selected area is carved out of a block (the block can be wood, linoleum, rubber etc). The block is then “inked” and “pressed” in order to create an image on paper. Imagine creating your own rubber stamp, but larger and with more artistic flexibility.

I will show you how to transfer the image to a block of linoleum, how to carve it out, demonstrate some inking techniques, and show you how to print. You can expect to complete an edition of 3 prints during class on beautiful high quality archival artists' paper. Your block is yours to keep, so you may extend your "edition" and continue printing at home after you leave!!!

Registration fee covers blocks, inks, and paper. Carving tools will be provided for your use, as well.

Class size is limited to 8 so everyone has an opportunity for one-on-one instruction with me and time to learn safe carving procedures and experiment with different printmaking techniques.

Please plan on bringing a variety of images to work from, as some images are easier to simplify and transfer better than others.

Meagan made printmaking straightforward, accessible and fun! Communication was excellent in advance of the class when a last-minute venue change was necessary.
