Event Overview

Would you like to schedule a session with Steve Rye of Sole Survivor Leather to make your own suede moccasins? We'd love for you to join us at our St. Louis Delmar store and studio for one of his long awaited and much requested classes in leatherwork!

This will be a guided workshop with ALL materials provided. All work will be done by hand - no sewing machines involved.

A pair of suede Moccasins will be completed in one 4-5 hour session.

You will be able to select from an assortment of suede colors - we have brights like purple, turquoise and red plus shades of brown.

We need a minimum of two people per class so grab a friend and sign up today!

What to Bring

Socks - if you plan to wear them with your moccasins.

This class is for adults age 18 and up

All materials are provided. We will be taking a short break during the class, so you may want to bring lunch or a snack.

Steve Rye is a CWE/Debalivier Neighborhood resident who owns and operates Sole Survivor Leather in the Delmar Loop. Steve started making leather good during the radical times of the '60's and has been making and selling Leather goods in the CWE and Delmar Loop areas ever since.

Steve's particular skills in leatherwork include the design, patterning and making of footwear and beautiful leather bags for both men and women. In addition, Steve enjoys making hand sewn small goods, including many one of a kind pieces.

As he approaches nearly 50 years of working with leather, Steve has collected a vast array of tools, machines and specialty leathers that are a testament to his knowledge and skill. When working with Steve from Sole Survivor, you are working not only with a highly skilled designer and craftsman, but an original free spirit - a true representative of his times.
