MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Madison DeWitt started dancing at the age of 4. She participated in both competitive cheer and dance teams, traveling across the USA. Her passion for dance grew immensely once introduced to Hip Hop dance. A natural performer, she appreciated the freedom of expression and attitude that Hip Hop promotes. Madison performed with Hip Hop artist, Lupe Fiasco, while a part of Xtreme Dance Force, one of the Midwest's top Hip Hop dance crews. Madison attended a Visual and Performing Arts High School in Elgin, Illinois, ending her senior year with a performance at Disney World. She began teaching at the age of 16, teaching Hip Hop to kids, teens, and adults. She choreographed for her high school's annual Mr. LHS, as well as for the cheerleading squad and Dance Academy's Junior show in 2006. Upon graduating from high school, she attended The University of Iowa, majoring in Communication Studies and Dance. She experienced the thrill of Improvisation for the first time at the University, and began her Modern dance training with Jennifer Kayle, Charlotte Adams, Alan Sener, and Armando Duarte. Madison began to explore her choreographic identity, creating a duet that was adjudicated, accepted, and performed in the Undergraduate Concert 2011, working closely with Deanna Carter, choreographer and University professor for ballet. She taught Hip Hop and Children's Creative Dance for The Univeristy of Iowa's Youth Ballet and School of Dance, teaching throughout the school year and for the summer program. During the summer following her junior year, she TRAVELED TO GERMANY to teach in Berlin and Erfurt with Annett Schaedlich- Hendrix and Lance Hendrix, founders and co-directors of Dance Professional Mannheim, a trade school specializing in dance performance, pedagogy, and choreography in Mannheim, Germany. After graduating in May of 2011, she moved to Germany to teach and choreograph for Dance Professional Mannheim. While in Germany, she performed on MTV's European Music Awards 2012 with pop singer, Carly Rae Jepson, and choreographed and performed for Germany's song competition show, Der Bundevision Song Contest in 2013. Returning from Germany in the fall of 2013, Madison began to reintegrate herself into the Chicago dance community, performing in Leila Henry's piece in Chicago's Choreographers Carnival. She auditioned for Dana Foglia's Mentorship Program 2014 in Los Angeles, California and was accepted into the Semester 2 program. While in LA, Madison worked with world renowned choreographers and teachers, including Parris Goebel, Miguel Antonio, and Erica Sobol. She helped in the promotion and production of Dana Foglia Dance's theatrical show, VATIC. She was also able to perform alongside the company at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, in the PLATFORM Choreography Showcase presented by Eric Saradpon. Madison combines her Commercial and Hip Hop experience with her Modern and Improvisation BACKGROUND to create her Contemporary style. She is very excited to become a part of the St. Louis dance community and to create movement with Consuming Kinetics Dance Company.
