Event Overview

Have you wanted to attach a missing button, personalize your yoga pants or fix a hole in your favorite jeans but you didn't know how? While sipping lattes at a local cafe, I'll show you how fun and easy sewing can be with no machine or experience necessary.

In this class you'll practice hand sewing basics on a coin purse making something you'll want to show off while learning a useful new set of skills. I'll patiently guide you through beginning sewing techniques such as:
*How to thread a needle - longer isn't always better!
*When and how to make a knot
*Various stitches such as the running stitch (great for patches), overcast stitch (close up that hole in a favorite stuffy) and blanket stitch (you can hem your pants with this stitch)

You'll discover sewing's so fun, it will have you in stitches! Come with questions and leave with confidence.

There was a small group of 6 of us and Leura was very helpful in giving 1 on 1 attention where needed. She taught us 3 different stitches and we learned how /when to use each one by creating a coin purse. I found the class tremendously helpful and it sparked a new interest.

I haven't sewn in about 25 years. After this two-hour fun class, I feel confident that I can sew a button on a shirt, which means a lot to me! Now I won't be embarrassed the next time my mother-in-law asks me where my needle and thread are because now I have a kit and I plan to use it.

    From Teacher:

That's right! Go sew girl! Thanks Anne!

It was really fun to get my hands back into some basic sewing and learn some new ways to do things I've done before. Leura was a great guide for the whole class, and we had a fun takeaway: our own coin purse/jewelry bag/cute thing! Now I want a more advanced class. Thanks, Leura!

    From Teacher:

So happy you've found your way back to sewing! Thanks Stacy!
