Event Overview

Woodblock printing is the oldest technique in printmaking with origins in ancient China. In this workshop, Dabblers will have the opportunity to learn not only basic skills but a variety of special techniques to make the most of this amazing art form.

All materials will be provided, including woodblocks, paper, and ink. We will go over hand carving versus electric carving tools; different types of wood, tools, and ink; the proper techniques for carving; proper tool care and where to get supplies; methods of either drawing or transferring an image to a block; tricks of the trade; and printing by hand so you can do your printmaking at home!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

I am an artist, printmaker, and educator. Specifically, I focus on printmaking, drawing, and book arts, and specialize in carving and printing large-scale woodblocks. I have exhibited my work and led workshops and demonstrations of my process at various venues. Art is my life and I love sharing what I do with others. There is nothing I love more than sharing the processes I know with others. I also make an award-winning strawberry rhubarb pie and don't mind sharing that, either.
