Event Overview

In this class we will explore the intuitive art of basic tapestry weaving. I will be sharing three common weaving techniques to set the foundation for your creative exploration. You will be provided with a quality handmade frame loom (14"w x 23"h) that will be yours to keep + tools! I will also be providing a selection of wool yarns in a variety of colors but please feel free to bring any yarn/material you may really want to work with. This class is ideal for the beginners or for anyone looking to learn a few techniques and walk away with a great loom! Instruction and technique will be given in this class although I highly encourage creative freedom, can't wait to weave some magic with you!

My work is largely inspired by primitive life and tribal culture, as I appreciate simplicity in technique and material. With a bold and powerful vision I attempt to create art infused with specific frequency characteristics designed to activate higher vibrations. I weave my wisdom of the energetic realms into my works as a form of meditation and prayer, resulting in vibrationally encoded works of art. I hope my work can be an inspiration for other people’s creative self-expression.

This class was amazing! Taryn is so talented and such a great teacher. Every step was easy to follow and she was always right there if you had a question or needed help. Also, the River North Workshop was an incredible + inspiring space to take a class!

What a lovely afternoon spent learning a new skill amongst an eclectic group of creatives. We all left with the confidence to weave on our own, a brand new loom, enough yarn to finish the project and full bellies thanks to the almond butter balls and kombucha that Taryn provided for us :) I felt completely supported and comfortable when asking questions, but not smothered. She gave us space to create and gave us one on one direction based on our personal weaving speed.

Amazing class with an amazing teacher! I have a new hobby! Taryn was very patient and knowledgable about weaving and tapestry arts. I would take this class again, recommend it to others and hope to take a more advanced class with her!
