Event Overview

In June we celebrate Father's Day! But there are little girls around the world who are orphans. Come celebrate Father's Day a new way by joining us in making a little dress for a little girl who has no father to care for her.

"Little Dresses for Africa" sends pillowcase dresses to orphans around the world! You can make a simple dress out of a cotton pillowcase and we will ship it to "Little Dresses for Africa."

Come join us for a fun morning of sewing, meeting new people, and making a difference in the world, one dress at a time!

This will be an on-going event held the second Saturday of the month. Please sign up thru Dabble each time you plan to attend.

Please use the North door entrance to Forge--see map on link:

VERY basic sewing skills needed. We can even help you thread your machine! There will be a teacher to help you each step of the way if you need it.

Hi! I'm Amy Santee and I am the organizer of the Little Dresses for Africa Program. We will have a rotating schedule of teachers who will lead this sewing class. You will meet Taryn, Laura or Emily, depending on when you attend. They are great teachers who are eager to help you make these simple pillowcase dresses that will be worn and appreciated by a little girl somewhere in the world!

What an incredible experience! These ladies all have such a passion for making cute dresses out of basically scraps. They were an inspiration, and attending the class gave me a fresh outlook on life.

The instructions were clear and extremely easy. Taryn did a great job teaching at my pace. This class is great for both novice sewers and experienced seamstress looking for a way to give back. It's not just about sewing; it's about getting excited about something bigger than yourself. And this class nailed it! I live in Wheat Ridge, and the drive to Aurora was absolutely worth it. Had a great time, will definitely be back!

I went by myself (and gabbed with the gals like I'd known them for years), but this would be a fun activity for a BFF get-together or mother/daughter time, too.
