Event Overview

Hey, Home Sewer! Join us for an afternoon of measuring, fitting, basic pattern alterations and FUN!

You are invited to this special afternoon to iron out your fitting questions! We'll review how to properly get measurements of yourself, members will pair up and take measurements so you have a "good" baseline for pattern fitting, discuss ease and how it applies to different garments, review the basics of printed pattern modification and how to determine needed mods from your measurements, a few methods of pattern alteration, and what your body type is so you know which patterns work best for you!
This is a great opportunity for new sewers, crafters who are interested in fashion sewing, or anyone who wants to get a better fit out of their home-sewn garments. Bring a pattern you have a question on or need a few pointers!
PLEASE wear or bring a tight fitting tank top or t-shirt to wear during the measuring process, and wear the undergarments you normally would wear under the type of clothing you are constructing (shirt, dress, etc). If you have exercise shorts or yoga pants to wear for measuring the hips, that would result in a more accurate measurement than with jeans or loose pants.

What to Bring

Bring a pencil and paper to take notes, and a pattern you have questions about! Wear a tank top and yoga type pants for best results during measuring!

Minimum age

All ages welcome

What's Provided

We'll provide the measuring guides, tapes, paper to trace your shoulder slope, and snacks!
