Portrait Photography- How To Look Beyond The Posed

As a portrait photographer, you are not only capturing a photo, you are also telling a story. Not all stories can be told by posing and shooting. Sometimes, you have to get creative and be a magician, a comedian, and sometimes a dog whisperer.

I will share with you my techniques, ideas, and perhaps we will come up with some new ways of making memories! We will talk about creative interaction, backgrounds, how to make that husband smile, what to do with a fussy baby, or a tantrum throwing toddler!! THEN, we will take to the streets and find some unsuspecting subjects, and try out what we've learned and have some fun.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Roberta Lott-Holmes is the Owner and Lead Photographer of Silent Expressions Photography. She has been capturing memories for over 16 years after being asked by a friend to photograph their backyard wedding in 1999. She identifies as a photo-journalistic photographer, but likes to "go with the flow" of the moment and adjust to her surroundings. She is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, as well as the Child and Family Photographers of America. She volunteered for eight years as a photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (www.nilmdts.org) and Bridgeway Home for Pregnant Teens Annual Events.

Roberta lives in Wheat Ridge, Colorado with her wife, Tina, and her fur babies Huddie (woof) and Reese (meow).
