Fused Glass Panels

Arts & DIY
Our glass fusing decorative flat panel class is designed for students who want to learn the basics of fusing while having more class time to create an intricate or artsy design. Students will first draw out their designs and cut sheet glass into different patterns and designs.
Each student will make 1 panel in this class that is around 6-10" in size, depending upon the clear glass available at the studio. It will be up to the students to purchase their own display pieces after the class to display their work - local craft stores have display rests, or you can easily purchase wall mounting hardware to display your work (please note this is up to the student after the class, these options are not provided in the actual class).
The class will look at artwork that other artists have made to gain inspiration and insight into different cutting techniques. After pieces are layered we will glue our patterns down and continue layering with glass frit, stringers, pebbles, noodles, and more. Students are encouraged to express their creative voice through this class and can make square or rectangular forms. Contact us for group rates or private lessons.
Materials Provided: sheet glass, glass frit, stringers, pebbles, and more.

Nationally exhibiting artist, Jessica Schimpf has a B.F.A. degree in Sculpture from The Maryland Institute College of art. She has been creating glass artwork for over 6 years and teaching for over 5 years. Come see what it's like to take a class from a pro!
Jessica did a great job communicating to schedule this class. The studio is a little tricky to find but it worked out. My friend and I were pleased with her instruction and attentiveness. Must be somewhat creative and recognize that the piece will not be perfect since glass fusing takes a while to learn. We are looking forward to seeing our final results.
