Event Overview

Canning season is here and I am so excited! A stocked pantry full of colorful home-canned food is beautiful, satisfying, and of course yummy! As well as enjoying your preserved foods yourself, they also make great gifts.

So much of canning is about confidence. It can be a little intimidating! If you are interested in starting this classic art of food preservation but need both the know-how and some encouragement to get you going, let me give you a lesson.

I will come to you with my supplies so that you can get used to canning in your own kitchen with your own stove. Before the class we will decide together two items that you would like to can. We could do a vegetable and/or fruit. If you provide the beef or pay me the market price, we will can beef!

A canning party would be great for a group of interested individuals or makes for a unique wedding or baby shower. I will provide all equipment, food, and hand-outs.

I love canning and am thrilled to share that joy with others.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

I am a mother of three little girls and enjoy watching my garden grow, keeping backyard chickens, and "playing" farmer. I grew up canning with my grandmother in Ohio who preserved fresh vegetables from her garden and made amazing strawberry-rhubarb jam. Every time I can, I am filled with memories of her and her gorgeous basement pantry. I also canned beef with my dad who was a butcher.
