Event Overview

Come learn how you can create delicious, organic foods, rich in probiotics. Fermented foods promote a healthy gut and provide healing bacteria to your body.

We'll discuss food preservation as a whole, and the history of fermentation. Then we'll do some hands-on food preparation and tasting. Don't be turned off by the word "fermented", it's not spoiled, it's healthy and delicious! Come try some salsa!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you learn about the importance of probiotics.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

I live in Lakewood with my wonderful husband. I have two grown children who are both married and living in other states. Many years ago, my mother taught me how to can tomatoes using a water bath canner. That method is no longer supported, encouraged, or acceptable by the FDA. Tomatoes must be canned in a pressure canner. My daughter called me up one day and said “I want to learn how to can”, so I purchased 2 matching pressure canners, packed up and drove to Grand Junction where I spent most of a week canning tomatoes, green beans and spaghetti sauce. A few years and several canning sessions later, we decided to start a Colorado Proud canning business. We called it Ma and Dau’s Market. We spent quality time together canning fresh Colorado produce, which we sold at Farmer’s Markets and craft fairs.
