Event Overview

As a woman, I know how intimidating taking your car in for repairs can be. My class teaches basic car knowledge to anyone who wants to learn- men, women, new teen drivers. I'm an ASE certified, former Volkswagen mechanic and mother of two. Learn what services you really need to keep your car on the right maintenance schedule and make it run forever!

Give yourself some peace of mind, driving around in our Colorado winters by learning more about your vehicle. I schedule my classes one-on-one instead of large groups so we can focus on learning about your personal vehicle. If you don't see a time or date that works for you, feel free to email me and we can work out a time that works for both of us. I can also schedule a personal class on how to change your oil, brakes etc.

My basic car care class will include:

Minimum age

All ages welcome

What You Can Expect From This Experience
  • How to check your fluids
  • How to set tire pressures
  • Installing your spare tire instead of waiting 3 hours for AAA
  • Checking your filters
  • Familiarizing yourself with your owner's manual

I'm very glad I took this class. The teacher was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She answered all my questions and gave good advice on what work is needed on my car. I feel more confident about doing some tasks myself like changing the tire (after I get the proper tools) and changing the air filter. This is a good class for anyone who doesn't ever look under the hood. She did a good job explaining the basic set up, parts, fluids and maintenance on my own car. I would recommend this class and if you go, just be sure to have your car manual handy and be able to access any spare tires/tools since you'll be using your own car for the class.

The class was great. I learned some good common sense lesson that I previously never thought of. Also some things that were specific to my vehicle that will definitely save me a lot of trouble in the future.

I really enjoyed this class. I'm one of those women who knew nothing about cars. But I thought it was time I finally learned, and I definitely did learn a lot from Dana. She took me step by step through my car helping me understand the things I need to look for and teaching me how to handle the basics on my own, such as changing a tire, putting air in my tire, checking my fluids, etc. My favorite part was the hands on, one and one aspect. And I now have a better understanding of what I need to know when getting my car serviced and they come back with a long list of "problems that need to be fixed"! Thanks Dana!

I loved this class. If you have a car, and you don't know much about how to care for it, this really is a class that's essential. Dawn is a very helpful and attentive instructor. She breaks it down simply, shows you everything you absolutely need to know, and let's you try it for yourself. It was really fun! There's so many things that you can do for yourself instead of having to take it in. Plus she checks your fluids, tire pressure, lights, breaks, etc. so it was like a free check up as well.

My class with Dana was fantastic! The class is a one-on-one tutorial on your specific car, and also a bit of a mini-check up with a certified mechanic. She walked me through my car (and the manual which I’d barely looked at). She showed me how to check my fluids and filters (including how to access the air filter behind the glove compartment). One of the most important things she pointed out to me is that I had specialized lug nuts on my car and I did not have a key! Had I gotten stuck with a flat tire, it’s possible a tow truck would not have been able to get them off! And even if they COULD get them off, my spare tire was flat (which she filled to specifications)! I wish that I had taken reference photos to remind me of some of the things she talked about, but I’ll just have to schedule a refresher course! Now that I have found a key to fit my lug nuts, I want to practice changing my own tire and it’s time for me to replace my spark plugs. I have already recommended her services to friends! I think you can never go wrong with practical education that empowers you to become more self-sufficient. Highly recommended!

Very good class for learning how to do your own basic maintenance. Learned where to check the various fluids, what to look for when there's a problem, what things are and where they are under the hood, how to change the air filter, change a tire, and more. Dana knows her stuff and teaches very well -- clear, straight-forward. Great that it's one-on-one instruction and you get to learn on your own vehicle. And as a bonus, she showed me to how make my check engine light go off!

Dana is a down-to-earth lady. She's easy to talk to and to get along with. She asked right away what I wanted to learn since I was the only student that day. Although I suppose I didn't really know WHAT I wanted to learn because my car knowledge is THAT limited. I was kind of expecting more of a standard curriculum, like things she would recommend every beginner or lone-driving gal should know. But we did quite a bit. She emphasized getting to know my car manual. She showed me the major parts under the hood with which to be familiar and when to be concerned. We changed my tire for practice, and she helped even out my tire pressure. We checked some of the fluids and found that my transmission fluid needs some attention. She showed me my brake pads and rotors, and she explained when they need attention.

Very informative class. I've been looking for a basic car maintenance instruction class for awhile and Dana's class was perfect. She's got a ton of experience. She showed me how to change a spare, check my fluids and then explained the brakes in detail, spark plugs and any other question I asked. Very cool. Definitely happy I went.
