Bookbinding- Creating a Hardback Book

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Event Overview

Have you always wanted to learn how to make a hardback book?! In this class we will tear down a full sheet of paper, fold it into sections and sew them to form a text block with end papers. We will then take that text block and wrap it into a hardback cover of your own making (also during the class period). This process is called "casing in." Previous experience with covering boards is preferred as sewing can be time consuming. Students will go home with a completed book and step by step handouts to help them recreate this at home.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

After studying in NYC, San Francisco and Boston I decided to open Acorn Bookbinding in Denver and share my love of paper and books. This passion for paper and creating something to share is the driving force behind my binding. When I go into my studio each day and look at all beautiful paper sheets that will become a treasured or happily well used book for children and adults alike I know that I am in the right space and place. I have enjoyed binding in the River North area of Denver and teaching in the Denver metro area for two years.
