Event Overview

What can we make today? This is a continuous class offered every Saturday morning for kids ages 7 through 13. Come one Saturday or each Saturday. This program will focus on learning textile art through all of its various forms: hand sewing, machine sewing, dyeing, felting, block printing, screen printing, weaving, crochet, knitting, embroidery and many more. There are many rewards in working through tactile problems: students get the chance to make mistakes and figure out solutions, get feedback and finish products. Each session is completely hands-on and project based which means your child will walk away with a project that he or she completed.

Prerequisite: This is a total beginner's class - no previous experience necessary
Minimum Suggested Age: Between 7 years and 13 years old

Directions to Studio: The Bridgeport Art Center is located at 3200 West 35th Street in Chicago and our studio can be a bit tricky to get to. There is ample parking on the north side of the building by 34th Street and Racine. The studio itself is located on the 5th floor of the Fashion Design Center. Entrance to the Fashion Design Center is on Racine Ave, the east side of the building.

Do not come in through the entrance off of the parking lot – you will get utterly lost. Once you see the intercom box by the entrance door on the Racine side, press key Star (*) 5405 and you will be buzzed in. Take the elevator to Floor 5 and as you exit make a left until the end and then a right until you get to studio 5405.
