Event Overview

Create a one-of-a-kind centerpiece that showcases your upcycling prowess! All skill levels are welcome to explore - or locate - their creative side.

We will transform metal beverage containers into artistic vases then fill them with unique and vibrant handmade flowers. The result: an eye catching centerpiece, artistic decor for that challenging void on the bookshelf, a quaint addition to the guest room bedside table, or even the perfect heartfelt gift for a loved one! You can work within a specific color pallette to complement any room, create a mood with your color scheme, or choose to celebrate your favorite season with the colors that speak to you!

You pick your direction, and I will help you with the rest!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Kim Schafer is sole owner and operator of the Chicago-based small business eyelidcanvas. The core concept that drives eyelidcanvas is the freedom of imagination to create functional and wearable art through the clever reuse of found objects. This concept can be found in Kim’s jewelry line featuring repurposed Erector Set pieces, old hardware, rustic building materials, and interesting street finds. These items are enhanced with unexpected and original designs incorporating various metals, wire, leather, and/or stones. Kim also cleverly reuses paper scraps and magazine pages to create original greeting cards and fine art pieces. Larger scale unusual objects are transformed into light fixtures, stools, tables, coat racks, lamps, and sculptural art.
Prior to launching eyelidcanvas, Kim earned a degree in education and then a few years later in design to further develop her artistic passions. As an interior designer, Kim contributed to the conceptual plan and construction documents for several commercial spaces in the Chicago area.
