Linocut 101: Reduction Prints
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
Original drawings and paintings are so cool! The only down-side is that there is only one copy of each.
That’s where printmaking comes in – you can make numerous copies of the same design. But the one disadvantage is that you can only use one color of ink for each design, right? Not anymore!
There is a printmaking technique that lets you make multi-color prints. It’s called the Reduction Method. In this workshop, artist Dean Johnson demonstrates linocut carving and printmaking using the Reduction method. He then guides students, step-by-step, through the same process.
You will learn:
* How to carve a print block using linocut tools
* How to roll ink onto a block
* How to use the Reduction Method to introduce multiple colors into your prints.
You will get to take home all the prints you make, and you will have the knowledge and experience necessary to make more!
All ages welcome
