Chicago Summer STEM Camp
Open to any students between the ages of 8 to 15 years old.
Intro to 3D Printing - 1.5 Hours
- Hands on experience with 3D Printers
- Learn about software loading files and how to control the 3D Printer
- An introduction to Thingiverse open source parts community
- Discuss uses of a 3D printer and application in real world technologies
- Print process and mapping of print options and uses of different print types
- Go over examples of prototyping parts and learn about how 3D Printing has changed the manufacturing industry
- Produce a fully functional part in a single print
Intro to Drones - 1.5 Hours
- Learn how to fly and operate a drone
- Understanding of the components
- Comprehensive understanding of the equipment
- Possible applications in real world
- Review careers that involve drone industry and future applications
Intro to Robotics - 1.5 Hours
- Hands on programming, building, troubleshooting and operating activities
- Traditional building techniques all while growing students' skills in design, problem-solving and critical thinking
- Students will gain confidence and a one of a kind learning experience as they watch their creations take shape, from a simple idea to a working robot with motors and sensors
- Programming robot while seeing the robot take live action
- Usage of Scratch based learning platform
