Event Overview

Orchids are among the world’s most beautiful flowers, but they can be mysterious, too. How do you get those blooms to come back? How should you water your plant? What do you do after your plant blooms?

In this hands-on workshop, learn the ins and outs of orchid care from master gardener and floral designer, Leelee Dameron of Leelee’s Garden, as you create your orchid kokedama planting.

Kokedama is a “moss ball” planting style that originates from Japan. In this class, you’ll learn how to wrap your orchid’s roots to create a spherical moss planter that you can take home and suspend in the air or display in a dish. Kokedama is a great planting technique for new and seasoned gardeners alike, especially for indoor urban gardens.

3/8 - We are hosting this workshop in the hands-on workshop section of the Chicago Artisan Market. You will receive complimentary admission to the market and can shop goods from other local makers before or after our workshop. The market is open 10AM-4PM.
