Event Overview

Hello there!

Shine On is an all-ages and all-skill levels dance studio in West Town. No matter if you are a raw beginner, or someone who grew up taking dance classes as a kid and want to get back into it, Shine On is the place for you!

Our Adult Beginner Ballet class is one hour long, and we begin class with a light stretch and warm up in center floor. Next, we go to the barre for about 30 minutes of traditional ballet barre exercises. Then we will do some across-the-floor exercises, and end the class with a short choreographed routine.

By the end of class, you will definitely be feeling the burn! Ballet is HARD, but I promise you will have fun and feel just a little bit more elegant and graceful when you walk out the door.

ABOUT ME

When I began taking dance classes at the age of four, I fell in love immediately. It didn't matter that I couldn't figure out how to point my feet in the right direction in fifth position - I was totally hooked. When I was nine years old I began dancing competitively, and slowly, all other extracurricular activities fell away. I continued competing and performing through high school and college. At Indiana University, I was a member of InMotion Dance Company, attended university dance classes and became a teacher's assistant.

After graduation in 2008, I decided to move to Chicago to pursue a career in performing arts. I had spent a little less than a year with Hip Hop Dance Connexion, when I decided to shift my focus to another passion of mine - acting and comedy. I completed the improv comedy program at iO, and was accepted to the Conservatory at The Second City, which I graduated from in 2012. I was hired by pH Productions in 2009, and remain a member of their theater company.

After working in various restaurants, nanny jobs, and eventually, 3 years as an office manager at a real estate finance company, I was tired of working at jobs that just paid the bills, and needed something more in my life. I knew it was time to return to my first love: Dance.
