Afro-Latino Dance

Arts & DIY
In this class no one, I mean no one will stand still. How can you, when the music around you is amazing and electrifying?! We will explore the many great dance and musical contributions of the Afro communities across Latin-America.
Here are the rhythms we will explore and their respective countries.
Bomba- Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Peru
Samba De Roda- Brazil
Axé- Brazil
Punta- Honduras
...and there will always be an extra dance rhythm from another country (this will always change)
This is among one of my favorite dance genres. As an AfroHispAsian (I am Afro-Mexican/Cuban/Filipino and Ecuadorian) born in Chicago, I am proud of my roots and absolutely love teaching others the beauty of Afro-Latino cultural dances.

I started dancing when I was around 6 years old. I learned to dance from many great teachers, some of them being Dil Costa, Guillherme Santos, and my mother, to just name a few. I have been teaching dance for a little over 10 years.
Along with dancing, I also teach jewelry making. I truly enjoy making jewelry, using pearls, semi-precious beads, mixing metals, fabrics,
and other alternative materials. I am not afraid to play with texture and making unusual
combinations look great!
