Event Overview

Long before the Germans brought beer to America, we were a nation of cider drinkers! Cider has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years leaving many folks wondering just what the heck is cider anyway? Answer: it's much more than the mass produced stuff you see in grocery stores.

Cider for Newbies is a great introduction to the world of cider drinking! We'll discuss the history of cider in the US, including how we lost our cider apple trees to Prohibition, right up til present day. We will talk a bit about the process of making cider and taste ciders from America's top cideries that run the gamut of flavor. 

During class, students will:

- Enjoy and learn about a flight of ciders from American cideries

- Take tasting notes on the ciders

- Talk about what's new and exciting in the world of cider

 

This class is for you if you've ever said, "I'm not a cider person" or "I don't like cider" and for those new to cider who want to understand it a little better. Don't let Angry Orchard put you off a truly diverse and wonder thing.
