Event Overview

Interested in yoga but not feeling ready to step into a formal studio? Well, now's your chance to build up the confidence and gain the fundamental basics of yoga- or even solidify your skills as a beginner yogi or yogini!

I have found that even in many "intro" yoga classes, teachers have too many students to be able to give individual attention. I find myself looking around the room and desperately holding myself back from adjusting people's hips, shoulders, arms, and back! While you will [probably] not injure yourself, why start off with incorrect alignment in the first place? Getting a really solid education on the basics of all fundamental yoga postures can make your transitions in yoga much easier, and put back the "aaaahhhhh" in "savasanaaaaaa." :)

I am a registered yoga teacher with 200+ hours of formal training and 150+ hours of training with master teachers including Kathryn Budig, Seane Corn, and Shiva Rea. While I find the physical aspects of yoga asana (postures) to be incredibly rewarding, I find that there is not enough emphasis on the other aspects of yoga (breathing, meditation, etc.) in formal yoga classes these days.

In our class, we can work on whatever you would like! We can spend half the time on meditation and half on asana, make it a fully physical practice, or we can even spend the whole time in deep meditation and talk about the yoga sutras! We are in this together!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

My mother brought me into a yoga studio when I was 15 to beat teenage angst and I have been hooked ever since. I began my teacher training at the age of 17, and by now have had 350+ hours or formal training by master teachers around the world. I am fascinated by everything yoga related, from physical asana to pranayama (breathing techniques) and mediation to the yoga sutras and everything in between. Last January, I traveled to India to visit the most sacred places in Hindu and Buddhist culture and the foundation of the practice that has become such a large part of my life. I hope to pass my love and passion for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of yoga on to any and all who will listen :)
